All I really needed to know I learned from watching 16 hours of TV for 9 straight days

1) The confirmation hearings of Judge John Roberts was just one huge dog and pony show which allowed the Senators to extoll their personal accomplishments and gave Roberts the opportunity to say,

“…that issue may come before me as a justice if I am confirmed, so it would be inappropriate for me to respond,”

about 300 times or more. What a waste of our government’s time and money!

2) I may just like country music. Hey, you can actually understand the words, and the songs all tell a story. I suppose it helps if you live in the deep South.

3) If you’re female and aspire to be a news reporter or anchor, don’t think about it unless you were born with beauty.

4) I’m glad we didn’t choose to retire in an area prone to any kind of natural disasters.

5) Eating a meal in a chair at the table is a lot easier than balancing a plate of food on your chest in a recliner.

The greatest motivation I had for as quick a recovery as possible from various surgeries was daytime television. The news is repetitive and the rest of the programming is aimed at unemployed high school dropouts. Get well soon.

Didn’t you get the Food Channel? At least you could have learned a bunch of new recipes.

Concerning country music: You don’t have to live in the South but you do have to like trains and alcohol. When I was in school in North Carolina there wasn’t anything else on the radio and I thought I hated it, but somehow it grew on me and now it’s a guilty pleasure–or at least I can enjoy it driving across the Mojave where the radio is, again, otherwise dead. I’ve got a substantial C&W MP3 collection if you want a few.
