Bluffs Butcher
I was working on some websites the other night with the TV on a sports channel when they re-broadcasted an old, heavyweight championship boxing match between
I ain’t jokin’,
gonna come out smokin’;
I’se sharp as a razor,
my name’s Joe Frazier.
Joltin’ Joe Frazier and the Bluffs Butcher, Ron Stander.
And that reminds me of a story.
You see, Ron Stander was from Council Bluffs, Iowa, and he was a client and a friend of mine. I was at the fight which was held in Omaha. Ronnie didn’t win (he was cut badly - 32 stiches), but Frazier never knocked him down, either.
If we could have grafted some rhinoceros hide on his face, we might have had a world champ.
After the fight, his then wife, (they were later divorced) was quoted as saying,
“You don’t take a Volkswagen into the Indianapolis 500 unless you know a short-cut.”
The last I heard, Ron was a boxing referee.
And now you know the rest of the story.

RON STANDER HAS BEEN MY FRIEND AND HUSBAND OF 17 YEARS. HE WON THAT FIGHT IN MY HEART IF HE WOULD OF HAD A REAL WOMEN INSTEAD OF DARLIN DARLENE HE WOULD OF WON. SHE WAS A VOLKSWAGON TRYING TO LOAD UP WITH MONEY… THAT’S ALL SHE HAS EVER BEEN AFTER. RON I MYSELF ARE BOTH DIVORCED FROM THE SAME FAMILY AND EVERYONE KNOWS HER STORY.HISTORY. RON IS THE BEST MAN I HAVE EVER RAN IN TO. HE’S MY LIFE AND OUR BOY’S WE ARE RAISING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ARTICAL I HOPE YOU HAD FUN WITH HIM… HE’S THE GREATEST OF ALL TIMES. I am the son of the famous and infamous Ron Stander some say he is a loser but he is the only winner i know of. He has dedicated me through my school work and through my athletics. He has always pushed me to be better than what I am and has always wanted me to achieve my goals. He has always been there to watch me compete. He always tells me to suck it up if im hurt or if im losing i have won some pretty big wrestling matches beat state and national champs only for the pride and honor my dad puts in me and i put in him without my dad i dont really know where i would be.
He is my idol and most important my father!!!

Thanks so much for your comments. I liked Ron and always thought that he deserved a lot more than he got. Looks like he finally won the biggest bout of all; the fight for a successful life. He has a loving wife and son–what else matters?
Say hello to the big guy for me. Maybe he’ll remember the time I got him out from under a boxing contract.

I’am the “son of the Butcher” Ryan and I’am very proud to be a Stander. In my heart my father won that fight. If Frazier was not to “cheat” and through headbutts and through elbows my dad could of won that fight. I’am proud to have the same resemblents as my father although I am not all that much into athletics, but am proud to look just like the “Butcher”. . My father is the best father in the whole entire world and no other father can be just like him, a champion, and a good loving father. My father has done me right for my whole 16 years.When i was little he always would put me in his Chevy pickup i loved it because i would always be with him. He shows me the best places to go mushroom hunting, and how to treat others with respect and kindness. So I am going to end this with a “WHO THE HELL IS JOE FRAZIER GO BIG RON.”

Ron Stander was a contender with a courage that seems rare now a days. Although he beat one of my favorite fighters (Jack O’Halloran) I always admired him as a fighter who was afraid of no one. His children can be proud.

BUTCHER HAD NO FEAR. OF ANY BOXER. HE SHOWED HIS CLASS AND STYLE AND HE HAD IT DOWN WHAT TO DO.HE TOLD ME THAT EARNIE SHAVER’S WAS THE HARDEST HIT HE’D EVER HAD FELT.HE WAS A CLASSY BOXER WITH NO SUPPORT FROM THAT WIFE HE HAD.BUT WE ALL KNOW HE HAD MANY WOMEN TO SUPPORT HIM AND LOVED HIM….SHE WAS DUST IN THE WIND AND DID NOT KNOW IT…..
