Bob’s Deli - A Review
We were in Tucson yesterday, and stopped around noon at Bobs Deli for lunch. We previously read a review in the Tucson weekly which attracted our interest.
Inside, we counted 13 two tops, and for those of you with no restaurant experience, thats thirteen tables for two. The dining area was clean.
We like clean.
The walls were covered with U of A posters. The owners were behind the refrigerated display counter in the back.
There were not many diners when we arrived. We found out later that because of Spring break, many of the U of A students who were regulars were not there. This was a good thing for us since we were new customers, and there are so many choices and decisions to make.
The owners were very patient and helpful as we stood at the counter perusing the menu. We ended up ordering a Pastrami Sandwich on Marble Rye, and the Soup Special (a Tuna Sandwich on a Kaiser bun with a bowl of Chicken Gumbo), Sun Tea and a soft drink. Total, about $12. The soup and sandwiches were excellent, and the Sun Tea was so much better than the tea that is normally served in restaurants.
The menu lists about 2 dozen different sandwiches, Including Paninis, with eleven different choices of bread. They offer a variety of sides, salads, and desserts as well, including a slice of Homemade Pie for $1.59!
Bobs Deli is pretty easy to miss unless you are looking for it. Located at 2516 North Campbell Avenue, it is 2 blocks North of Grant on the East side. Its definitely worth looking for!
