Claim Jumper - Revisited

I wrote a negative review of the Claim Jumper Restaurant in Tucson some time ago. Several fans of the restaurant chain contacted me and suggested that we give it another chance. We did.

Our experience last night was different than the first time. Although we arrived at about the same time (4:30 PM) the place was busy and I noticed several line cooks working at their stations. Once again we were impressed with the ambiance. Lots of wood and stone and comfortable booths.

Jeremy, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered the luncheon Spaghetti and Meatball (baseball size!) and the Sliders with Cheese, four small burgers remindful of White Castles, only not nearly as greasy. Our meal with a generous “Holiday” tip was $24.26.

The plates were attractive and the food plentiful. I just wished they would pay more attention to their seasonings. We did find that with quite a few sprinklings of salt and pepper, the food came to life.

I guess that at our age and with our experience the best place to eat is at home. It is fun for us to eat out though and we will go back to the Claim Jumper.
