Controversial film debuts at Sundance

No one deserves to die in search of a better life.

Film heats up immigration debate

A battle involving frustrated ranchers, watchful Minutemen, local activists, desperate migrants, humane workers — and even the Border Patrol and policymakers — is raging along the Mexico-Arizona border.

Each year, more than 1 million undocumented migrants attempt the dangerous journey across the border and through the deserts of Arizona, seeking higher-paying jobs in the United States. At least 464 died last year making the quest — some officials estimate two to three times that number — mostly from dehydration.

“People get the impression that the border is wide open and anyone can walk through it,” said Joseph Mathew, director of the documentary “Crossing Arizona,” which made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival.

The solution to not dieing in the desert? Try staying home!

I am always amazed at the way some people look at this situation–like it is the fault of the U.S. that these illegal crossers die out in the desert. Like the U.S. has no right to enforce its laws about entry into the country and that these people have some sort of a right to ignore our laws and come here anyway–and then we are suppose to feel bad because they inflict their own death on themselves. And of course it all our fault; not their fault that they set off across some of the most treacherous country imaginable, without adequate food, water, foot gear, maps or a compass, and illegally!

And you bleeding heart liberals can save it! I have heard it all before…..”we are a nation of immigrants”……”you are a racist”. But these “slogans” ignore the actual fact that the country is being invaded, and are nothing more than lines the liberals hide behind. And the politicians are the worst of all—they pander to the special interests who seek cheap labor and ignore the fact that these millions of illegal aliens are flooding the nation at the expense of the American taxpayer.
The public demands action and are ignored or given double talk by the politicians, or labled racist by the media.
There is definently more to this story than the subject movie wants to talk about.
