Thought you had seen everything, all those old movies and television shows two or three times even? Well you probably haven’t experienced old time radio!

This media is so old, it is refreshingly “brand new” to many of us. Here, we present 100 of our favorite horror theme stories, from shows like Witch’s Tale, Lights Out, Innersanctum, Quiet Please, The Haunted Hour and others. These are the very stories that inspired favorite Horror Comics and shows like Twilight Zone and Thriller! In fact, old time radio horror show, “Witch’s Tale” is reported to have served as direct inspiration for EC Comics.

When we moved to Green Valley almost five years ago I announced that I was never moving again. I have since learned to never say “never.”

So, we are leaving Green Valley. Moving away. Permanently.

We will miss Green Valley and the unique and friendly people who live here. We were originally attracted by the climate, natural beauty, safety and the small size of the community, but even that seems to have changed somewhat. The climate is changing everywhere, no doubt influenced by global warming. Green Valley and the surrounding area is continually growing. Natural areas are being replaced by cookie cutter houses. The opportunity for crime seems to increase with growth.

But I mention these changes only in passing. Our decision to move was primarily based upon two factors; health and family. Southern Arizona is not for everyone, especially for those who suffer from any kind of lung disorder or some allergies. Our elevation here at about 3,000 feet can also be troublesome.

And what’s more important than family. Relocating away from family has a downside. Regular phone and email contact and occasional visits help, but they can’t replace the ability to visit on the spur of a moment and a short drive.

For those of you who are regular visitors, the future of this blog is uncertain. Creating and maintaining Green Valley Moments has been mostly pleasurable for me, and I will probably blog somewhere in the future. It may just not be here.

We are busy with the relocation process and I will at least post something after the move has been completed.

Perhaps not as grand, and only for pedistrians and bicyclists, work has been commenced on a new bridge spanning the Missouri River, and connecting the cities of Omaha and Council Bluffs.

It likely will become one of the major attractions for bicyclists from all over the world – something that everyone who bikes will want to ride across. Construction is to start this fall on pedestrian/bicycle bridge over the Missouri River between Council Bluffs and downtown Omaha on the western Iowa border. Members of the Chamber of Commerce in Council Bluffs were told at their quarterly meeting last week that the 2,221-foot-long bridge will be suspended from towers stretching up to 225 feet high, north of the Interstate Highway 480 bridge, according to stories in the Council Bluffs Nonpareil. It is a $22 million project, with at least $19 million of that being federal funding.

Thermostats eventually quit functioning. If you buy a new one from Green Valley H & C, expect to pay around $200. On the other hand, Home Depot sells several under $100, including one for $39.97. Pick the one that you want, then call Green Valley H & C and have them install it for free. You just saved $160!

Just remember to get a thermostat that works with heat pumps.
