How to search this blog
With over 500 posts and as many comments, trying to locate a previous post or comment can be troublesome if you use conventional means. Wading through achieves, page by page, is a laborious, and often fruitless task.
Most weblogs, including this one, has a search feature. It’s located in the upper right hand corner. To use it, just enter some keywords and click “Search.” It’s easy. Here’s some background and a demonstration.
WordPress, the underlying software used on this blog, has a search routine that only searches posts. Fortunately, a plugin (hack or modification) was developed which allows users to search both posts and comments. This plugin was installed on this blog last year.
So, let’s say you want to find some post or comment about Safeway. Simply enter “safeway” in the search box and click. You will be taken to this page.
You will find many posts, displayed chronologically, where “Safeway” was mentioned either in the comment(s) or the post. For this demonstration, scroll downwards several posts to one entitled “Open Mic Day” dated January 27th, 2006. Click on the title and you will see this page.
Voila! A comment previously claimed as deleted is still there, just as it has been since the day it was posted.
What have we learned this week?
• If you are going to make some fairly severe accusations about someone or something, make certain that your facts are straight.
• If you want to find a particular comment or post on this blog, take advantage of the Search feature.
• If things don’t work the way you want or expect, accept some responsibility for your own ineptitude.
• If you come here trolling or looking for negative strokes, be a man of your word. Quit lurking and just leave.
