Large animal to invade Green Valley?
The controversy over the possibility that the White Elephant might relocate on Esperanza Boulevard has made the front page of our local rag. Two nearby homeowner associations have taken a position opposing the move. Most of the concerns apparently center around increased traffic and the adequacy of parking.
The White Elephant is a local, non-profit organization which accepts donations of clothing, furniture, and almost everything else, and then offers those items for sale to the general public. They are currently open three hours a day, Monday through Saturday, from 9 AM to noon.
The parcel under consideration is currently zoned for business development. Unless the zoning is changed, it is likely that some type of business will eventually locate on the site. Any successful business will generate traffic. The availability of sufficient parking can be addressed during the design phase.
My point? It seems to me that there are many types of businesses that would be much less desirable as a neighbor than the White Elephant. I sympathise with those residents who purchased homes across the street from the parcel under consideration. But do they really think that they will be able to prevent any and all business development? What kind of business would they prefer? Maybe the solution is to buy the parcel and develop it as residential housing.
What do you think?

Dear Old Geezer: How about commenting on the racist attitude expressed by some of your neighbors in the GV News story RE attracting “undesirable people” to your neighborhood?? All of these people contribute through their purchases to the $1.5 million the White Elephant is able to distribute throughout the community to other charities each year.
