What’s the big secret?

I reported earlier that the property at Esperanza Blvd. and La Canada had been sold. No one seems to know who bought it or what’s going to be developed at this location. So, I emailed the realtor whose name (intentionally omitted) is on the sign. No response.
The parking lot has been re-striped, but still no signs of life. It has drive-thru capability, and as I earlier guessed, maybe a financial institution. We need more of these!

One rumor is that it will be office space for a few small businesses.

Meanwhile, I noticed today that the Napa Auto Parts store across Esperanza from this location has disappeared leaving another vacant store front on Esperanza Blvd. As I said when it looked like the Walgreens was closing, I’m very concerned about all the empty retail locations along Esperanza and the hollowing-out of “central Green Valley” retail (including the abysmally managed GV Mall) in favor of new stores on the periphery (north, near the new Wal-Mart and Safeway and south in the Canoa area). I’m not sure what this phenomenon means, but my concern is that it resembles what happened in a lot of small towns and big cities where the traditional (older) retail areas whithered–leaving blight–as new retail popped up on the outskirts.
